Every Goyard Wallet, Explained

Goyard names its wallets after Paris streets and landmarks, which is charming and completely unhelpful when you are trying to work out which one holds your cards. Saint Pierre, Matignon, Victoire, Sainte Marie. None of those names tell you anything about size, shape, or what fits inside.

Here is the plain version.

The card holders

The Saint Pierre is the one most people mean when they say Goyard card holder. It is a flat card case, no coin compartment, no note section beyond a slot, sized to slip into a jacket pocket or the front pocket of a pair of jeans. Four card slots on most configurations plus a centre pocket. It is the most bought Goyard leather good in the world and the entry point into the house for a large share of owners.

The Matignon comes in two sizes and blurs the line between a card holder and a small wallet. The Matignon PM is the compact one, closer to a card case with a bit more structure. The Matignon GM adds a note compartment and functions as a proper short wallet while staying slim enough for a jacket pocket. If the Saint Pierre feels too minimal, this is the step up.

The Goyard card holder range is where most first-time buyers land, and for good reason. It is the cheapest way into the Goyardine canvas, it gets used every day, and it is small enough that the chevron print reads as a detail rather than a statement.

The long wallets

The Sainte Marie is the classic long wallet. Full length note compartments, multiple card slots, a zip section for coins on some configurations. This is the wallet for someone who carries cash and wants everything flat rather than folded. It fits inside most handbags without bending, which is the point.

The Richelieu is the larger travel format, long enough for passports and boarding passes as well as notes and cards. It sits in the same territory as a travel organiser rather than a daily wallet.

The Victoire is the zip-around, a long wallet that closes on a zipper rather than a flap. It holds the most of any Goyard wallet and is the one people choose when the wallet is doing the job of a small clutch.

The compact wallets

The Malesherbes is the folded short wallet, the traditional bifold shape in Goyardine. It is the most conventional wallet in the line and the one that reads least like a fashion object, which is exactly why some people prefer it.

The Insert wallets and pouches sit alongside the main line as organisers rather than standalone wallets, designed to structure the inside of a Saint Louis or an Anjou tote. Worth knowing they exist, because they are frequently mistaken for wallets in resale listings.

Which one to actually buy

If this is your first Goyard, the Saint Pierre is the answer. It is the most recognisable, the most liquid on the secondary market, and the least likely to feel like too much. If you carry cash, skip to the Sainte Marie. If you want one piece that handles cards, notes, coins, and doubles as a clutch, the Victoire.

Colour matters more than model for resale. Black on black is the safest and the most requested, followed by the classic tan. The brighter Goyardine colours, the reds, blues, greens, and yellows, are more polarising and move slower, though the rarer ones can command a premium among collectors who have been chasing a specific shade for years.

A note on buying

Goyard does not price its leather goods on its own website and most of the line has historically been boutique only, which is why the secondary market carries the weight for anyone outside the handful of cities with a comptoir. It is also why Goyardine is one of the most counterfeited prints in luxury. The chevron is hand painted rather than printed on genuine pieces, and the pattern should mirror outward from the centre seam rather than repeat mechanically. Stitching is angled and even. The interior stamp is crisp rather than blurred.

The short answer
