Brace Yourself! Squid Game is back, and This Time it's Bigger and Deadlier

The highly anticipated second season of deadly Squid Game, the South Korean survival series that swept the globe in 2021, is set to premiere on 26th December 2024. Fans have been expecting news on the show's future for over two years now and as more information becomes available, the excitement continues to rise.

What We Know So Far

On 12th August, Netflix released a teaser trailer for Squid Game Season 2 showcasing several players who will play a prominent role this season, the most important being Player 456 aka Seong Gi-hun, the winner in Squid Game Season 1. The player numbers have been revealed but not the characters as of now. Season 2 reportedly stars several prominent K-stars such as – BigBang fame Choi Seung-hyun, better known by his stage name T.O.P, It’s Okay to Not be Okay star and Celebrity star Park Gyu-Young, former Iz*One member Jo Yu-ri and many more. Fans are excited to see their favourite actors and idols from the South Korean industry.

Why The Long Wait?

As Season 1 ended on a cliffhanger, fans waited with bated breath for the next season but production and filming took a long while to wrap up, and that was because Season 2 and Season 3 were filmed together! The third season is set to premier in 2025 and is meant to serve as the series’ finale. This was the best news for the fans of the show who wanted a proper ending, and as the show earned Netflix over $900 million, it was the streaming giant’s rightful duty to do so.

What’s In Store for Season 2?

So far, the creators of the show have only disclosed that Seong Gi-hun, also known as Player 456 is returning to put an end to the injustice of the wealthy using the game as a battle royale against the underprivileged. All nine episodes of Season 2 of Squid Game will be out on 26th December, perfect for binging during the holiday season.

Why We’re Excited

We love a show that mixes thriller and mystery with social commentary bundled together in a fast-paced, electrifying story! Squid Game entertained adults with its wonderfully dark story and children with the childhood games, the most popular being Red Light, Green Light. Squid Game artfully captures greed, corruption, and how humans can be moral or immoral if pushed. Thanks to the show's success, Korean dramas have gained global popularity, proving the power of storytelling to cut across cultural divides. We cannot wait to see how Season 2 changes the game and ups the ante for the players!
