Before the Air Jordan 1, Black and Metallic Gold was first released, the patent leather was seen on sneakers released in 1996, 2001, and in 2013.
That said, the Air Jordan 1 Black and Metallic Gold has got to be one of the coolest and classiest uses of the patent leather material that we have seen yet.

The Fun and Flash of the Air Jordan 1 Black and Metallic Gold
For starters, it’s hard to not notice the gorgeous black and metallic gold patent leather mid panel of this cool shoe.
That shiny upper is then contrasted with a metallic gold that goes perfectly with the black patent leather.
This metallic gold is seen on the neck of the shoe as well as in the trademark Nike swoosh that outlines both sides of the sneaker.
The metallic gold also shows up in the Wing logo that is always stamped on the collar of each pair of official Air Jordan 1 sneakers.
The Jumpman on the sneaker's tongue is highlighted in metallic gold as well.
Finally, there is a fully translucent black sole with gold speckles incorporated into it, giving shine and shimmer to every part of this sneaker…even the underside and outsole!
